The State Seal of Kansas

Above is a creative drawing of the Kansas State Seal. Each student was given a square piece of the seal and asked to recreate only that portion. They had to draw their piece as accurately as possible, using a small copy of the seal as a color reference. We then combined all the pieces to make one large Kansas State Seal. The end result was a creative masterpiece of the 4th grade!

Kansas Day - Making Bread

On Kansas Day the 4th grade class made bread in a bag. This was quite an experience as many students had never made bread of any kind, especially not in a bag. We also attempted to make hard tack, a type of bread-cracker that was eaten long ago! The bread was a success, the hardtack however, was not. Unfortunately it was far to burnt for us to taste, but we could tell by the looks of it that we would rather eat the bread!

SNOWFLAKES

With winter upon us the 3rd and 4th graders took a few minutes, okay quite a few minutes, and made beautiful snowflakes to hang in the hallways. To accompany these snowflakes each student wrote an acrostic poem. Below you will find each students poem as well as a picture of our snowflakes.

"The Stranger" Character Sketch

After reading "The Stranger" each child was asked to write a characer sketch describing the main character. Students then created "The Stranger" to look as they pictured him.
